“Now then, just as the LORD promised, He has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time He said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!” Joshua 14:10 (NIV)

She sat quietly at the table with a smile on her face full of wisdom and grace.  When she was questioned, she spoke of the different ways God is using her to serve in the local community.  Taking bears to the local hospitals, she also visits those in the nursing homes.  She glowed with excitement talking about all the cards she sends.  She glowed with joy not because she is doing it, but because God leads her to do it and He uses her to bless others.  She talked of just that night how someone gave her a hug because of the joy that her card brought them at just the right time.

What a blessing to be encouraged by this person sharing how she shares with others.  Lessons are taught all around us when we truly listen.  It’s not anything that is so overwhelming to do or even time consuming.  It’s just doing it.  Think about all the little things in our own lives that have made a difference.  We can all learn from this precious woman.  All we have to do is pick up the pen and paper, or gather the bears and go – simple ways to share the love of Jesus moment by moment.

“Father, don’t let me miss another opportunity to give a smile or hug to someone who needs it.  Show me ways to encourage others for you.”

For His Glory,
