“He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 (NIV)
Life is filled with valleys and mountains that often seem too high to climb. The only thing that can get us to the top of the mountain is one step of faith at a time. We may have moments that we slip and go backwards a bit. Sometimes we might get so focused on the top of the mountain and getting out of the valley that we lose sight of what got us to the top. However, it’s not really what’s on top of the mountain that matters the most. Those hard moments that seemed like they would send you right back to the valley. The times you couldn’t see the path leading to the top for the tears you were shedding. Days where the cold, biting winds of people discouraging you saying you’ll never make it. Overcoming all of these and reaching the top is what God wants us to learn. Speed isn’t important, but the steps we take along the way make the difference. He wants us to have faith in Him and believe that we can make it through anything in His strength.
“Heavenly Father, help us to appreciate the tough times. It is through the tough times we feel you even closer and learn so much about ourselves. Making it through the trials is what makes us stronger and ready to face the next challenge that comes along.”
