Applying God’s Truth

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
 I Corinthians 10:31(ASV)

When I moved into my new apartment, the movers had the front door open and I had the sliding glass door open lugging in boxes.  After everything has settled, I now have flies that have taken up permanent residence.  A fly buzzing around my head or sitting on my computer screen when I’m reading, writing or studying makes me want to scream.  Have you ever tried to sleep while a fly is buzzing around?  I just couldn’t catch them all, so I began closing my interior doors.  When I would leave my bedroom and it was fly free, I closed the door.  Leaving the laundry room, I made sure no flies were around then I would run and shut the door behind me.

I had to locate them all and attack! I could swat my hand at them or give them the fiercest stare, but I had to take my fly swatter out to get them one by one.  It is the same way with a bad unspiritual habit that buzzes around in our lives. We know it’s there and it keeps landing on us.  Somehow, we find ourselves swatting aimlessly without taking care of the problem. Our best weapon is to intentionally apply the truth of God’s Word. One by one, we will see those bad habits fly out of sight as we close the door behind them.

Lord, please help me get rid of “flies” buzzing around in my life preventing me from being the Christian You need me to be.  Thank you for the Word of God to help me combat these “flies!”

For His Glory
