Serving Him

Cb devo aug30“We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV)

Ever get in a rut with your job, ministry, or daily routine?  Seems like we are doing the same thing over and over again without making much of a difference. Or we want to do more for God but think it’s not possible because we can’t afford to go on a mission’s trip or take time off to pursue ministry opportunities.  The second the devil puts the “woe is me” thoughts in my head, God reminds me of how I am serving right where I am. I am blessed to work at a church; however, I have probably the most indirect contact with people. I run the Print Shop and see people occasionally. I don’t really serve the community in person, but God reminded me that through my printing I have helped lead music for VBS in Alaska, encouraged our mission’s team in Guatemala, and blessed a widow with a remembrance to one of our dear Senior Saints that worked with our children’s ministry.

It’s not about title, training, money, or even location. God can use us where we are if we are willing to be obedient to His nudging. A smile at the grocery store clerk, paying for the person’s meal behind you at the drive thru, a card to a coworker, and SO many other little opportunities add up to big blessings. When we are purposeful in our walk with Christ, the chances to serve others will be obvious and plentiful.

“Dear God, Thank You for the opportunities to serve You. Help us to be sensitive to Your leading and be willing to show Your love in all we do.”

For His Glory
