Sowing the Seed & Growing In Christ

cb devo 11 “But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.” Luke 8:15 (NIV)

Becoming a Christian is a big step, yet the next step is to continue to grow and mature. Satan, however, doesn’t want us to learn how to walk with God and reach others for Christ. Like the parable of the seed (Luke 8:13-15), we can fall into the same categories:

·         Some go to church on Sunday but don’t plug into the Word to gain a solid foundation. So the first test Satan throws at them, they become shaken and have no footing in the Word.

·         Some hear the Word and get plugged into church and God’s Word.  As life progresses, they get distracted by material possessions or relationships. They slowly lose focus on God and go their own way.

·         Some open up their hearts to receive the Word of God. They hunger for the Word and fellowship with God. Burying the Word of God deep into their heart, they grow deep roots and establish a firm foundation.

We all go through stages of growth in our walk with Christ.  However, our relationship with Christ is active and requires constant communication to keep it going. Let’s take time to evaluate where we are with Christ and how deep our roots are.

“Father God, We are thankful that You constantly work to cultivate a relationship with us; that You give us the tools to make our relationship stronger. Help us to take the time to ensure Your word is hidden deep in our heart and increase our desire to grow closer to You.”

 For His Glory,
