“What God promised our fathers, He has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus….” Acts 13:32b (NIV)
Ever read the fine print and found that deal you waited for wasn’t a deal? Black Friday bargains filled our emails, mailboxes and newspapers promising what we just couldn’t resist. In fact many probably left the turkey and desserts to head out for the best deals. And yes, there were some great bargains. But underneath some of those coupons where the fine print lives were the exclusions and exceptions – not quite what we expected.
Life can often promise us a great deal, especially when it involves something we want – something we’ve waited for and feel we deserve. Something that sounds just too good to be true. But when it doesn’t deliver then we can easily become disillusioned.
Love the way God’s Word and His promises always deliver. His track record is perfect leaving no room for disillusionment. Everything God promised – the covenant He established thousands of years ago – unfolded in a single moment in the town of Bethlehem. A tiny babe in a manger – the promised child – breathed His first breath as the Savior entered our world. Every detail of Jesus life was living proof that God is the Promise Keeper. From the moment sin entered the garden, God began unveiling His perfect plan to redeem His people. And throughout the pages of scripture, we see God’s faithfulness, consistency and devotion to keep His promises.
Looking for a sure thing this holiday. Looking for truth and faithfulness. Tired of settling for less. Disappointed with empty promises, exclusions and exceptions. Regardless of what life throws our way, we can trust God to keep His Word!
“Father, help us to cling to Your promises knowing that You have proven Your faithfulness!”
For His Glory
