Kissing Anxiety Goodbye

jan 25“The man who trusts in the Lord whose confidence indeed is the Lord, is blessed.” Jeremiah 17:7 (HCSB)

Mondays can really rob us of all we thought we had together. We start another week. Refreshed, energized, and ready to conquer the world. We’ve got this. Nothing can get in our way. Nothing will derail our plans. Those were the simple thoughts we had before rushing out the door. Before everyone else’s agenda met ours. Before we slid under our desk or sank in a pile of laundry feeling totally incompetent to get the job done.

Regardless of what’s on our plate, we don’t have to cower in fear. God has equipped each of us for what lies ahead. He has already gone before us. He has prepared the way. Yes, despite the fact we often don’t know what we are doing, God is fully aware.

Even in the heat of the battles of life, God promises to replace our fear with His confidence. We can kiss anxiety goodbye and embrace the strength found in the One who has orchestrated all of our days, even the messy ones.

Love the promises that follow this verse. Even in the midst of drought (dry places), those who trust in God will not be overcome with worry (verse 8). And the byproduct of trusting means never ceasing to produce fruit. Sweet abundance that flows out and touches the lives of those we meet. Bold confidence that is not afraid of what tomorrow brings because we know our God’s got it covered.

Mondays – yes they can be hectic, unpredictable, and challenging. So what are we trusting in today? Self, other people, other things…..the list can be endless. But the woman who places her trust in God and not herself – well the scripture says it – she is blessed! Can’t think of a better way to start the week!

“Father, what a blessing we miss when we fail to trust You – help us to exchange our confidence for complete dependence on You.”

For His Glory
