Choose Joy

“The Lord is my strength and shield.  I trust Him, and He helps me.  I am very happy, and I praise him with my song.”  Psalm 28:7 (NCV)

Feeling blah, moody, and cranky?  We all have those days.  We are wired with emotions.  How we react and let those emotions control us is what makes us different.  It is so easy to just whine, complain, and feel miserable.  Satan knows when we feel down, we don’t feel like sharing the joy of Christ.  We give people reasons to believe being a Christian makes one miserable.

As a child, I remember Sunday School lessons when my teacher had circle faces on popsicle sticks.   One was a smiley face, and the other a sad face.   The teacher would sing a song about how the devil wants us to be grumpy, but Jesus wants us to be happy.  Then at the end she would say turn that frown upside down and smile!

What a great reminder when we feel down.  The devil wants us to be grumpy, but Jesus wants us to be happy, so turn that smile upside down. Sound easy?  Try it next time Satan gets under your skin and show him who’s in control.  It’s not easy, but with prayer and God everything is possible; you can turn that frown upside down. Plus, did you know frowning causes wrinkles and uses more muscles in your face than smiling?  Just another great reason to smile –  less wrinkles and it’s actually easier to do.  Love it!

“Father, Thank You for childhood songs to remind us to smile, please continue to fill my mind with You and Your words so I can always be seen smiling for You.”

For His Glory
