Is It Time To Prune?

“The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.”  Proverbs 12:26 (NKJ)

Who are the friends that impact our lives the most?  Are they friends that advise us to walk closely with the Lord?  Do they challenge us to dig deeper, or do they sympathize with our struggles and let us bask in our own pity?

A true Christian friend will defiantly empathize with our struggles, but will also force us to see what God might want us to see in a situation.  Where is the glory we can bring to Him thru this?  Is there a lesson we are to learn?  It’s important to take time to determine if a person is impacting our lives in a negative or positive way.  Are they challenging me to read God’s Word and seek guidance from Him?  Are they spending time praying over needs I have shared with them, and am I praying over their needs?  Do they let me whine about my issues without pressing me to see what lessons are to be learned in this valley?

It’s time to do some pruning; it’s not an easy task.  Choose friends who are going to encourage serving and ministering growth.  Why settle when God has provided people around you who love Him and can’t wait to grow and challenge you in the same way.

Father, Thank You for challenging, truth giving friends.  Help me as I prune and pick the ones who will sharpen me and I can sharpen them.
For His Glory,
