Our Mighty Fortress

“ The Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.” Psalm 94:22  (NIV)

In need of a fortress, a safe place?  We all are.  After watching the news or reading the paper, we hear about so many hurting people.  Stock prices dropping, people losing their jobs, marriages ending  – no wonder we’re seeking relief.  When we suffer who do we run too for refuge?  Some run to alcohol, drugs, family, or friends.  Some will even take drastic measures running to another part of the country to hide.  Some crawl in bed, pull the covers over their heads or just ignore what is going on around them.  It’s okay to cry or become broken because this is the place where God ministers to us the most.  When we run to God, He offers the comfort that we crave.  I have personally seen God offer comfort and peace when those without Him would have been completely broken over the news they just received.   Because they know God is with them in those moments, they can experience His peace while trusting all the answers to Him.  God is able to heal, transform, redeem, and provide our needs before we ever even know we need them. What a blessing to feel his arms around us in our trials, to have that peace wash over us and be reassured we can’t do this but He can.  He is able and willing!  The question is who will you run too?

“Father, you alone know my hurts and deepest desires.  Thank you for being the comforting arms to run too when I’m hurting.  Thank you for being the solid rock on which we can stand and trust. “

For His Glory,
