Call Upon the Name of the Lord

Woman Praying in Church“For at that time I will change the speech of the peoples to a pure speech, that all of them may call upon the name of the LORD and serve him with one accord.”  Zephaniah 3:9 (ESV)

Do we call on God or do we call on our friends? It is easy to run to friends and get on the phone to seek their counsel or pour out our heart. This isn’t wrong, but it becomes wrong when we neglect to call on God and put others before Him. Have you ever thought that God longs for us to call on Him? Just like we might be waiting by the phone for someone to call us, God waits for us too. Sometimes friends don’t understand, and they can even misjudge us,  reject us or get tired of our calls. God never tires of hearing His children call on Him. He doesn’t tell us, “I have to go now; you’ve been talking too long.” He doesn’t say, “I have other things to do.” He doesn’t say,  “You are draining me.” He doesn’t say,  “I’ve heard that before.” He is so understanding, so patient, so loving, so merciful. He longs to hear from us just like our longtime good friend. Are you a friend of God? How intimate are you with God? How many times do you call Him a day? His line is never busy, He  never puts us on hold and He will never hang up on us. We don’t have to leave a message with Him. He is there always  – how wonderful is that?

“Father, I call on Your name right now. I just want to tell You that I love You and appreciate You for always hearing my prayers. You are my best friend. You are a holy God. Thank You for hearing and answering me.”

For His Glory

Heaven, we have a problem. God, you are our only answer. Thank you for your children who encourage and teach us YOUR ways. Many of our people are sinning against each other and showing no respect towards each other. I know this is offensive to you and I’m sorry. Forgive me for my transgressions and touch the hearts and minds of those who are offending you, Father, and I ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen and Amen. Thank you, Linda and all the TRBC Mountain Blend girls….
